Ultimate Blog Challenge Blog 3 Working from Home

WORKING FROM HOME

“Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.” -Unknown

When you are running your Business from home self discipline is very important. You have no boss, no set hours and no one to check up on you which is wonderful BUT it does mean you have to be self disciplined.

What happens if you aren't self disciplined?
Probably absolutely nothing, you won't achieve anything and nothing will get done, your Business will stagnate.

If possible try and set hours that are "work" hours so you don't get distracted with the household chores and let your family and friends know so they don't just call by for a cuppa.
I also find i can't be "business mode" if i haven't got dressed yet, some people can but i can't.

Try and have an area which is work related which will help with distractions, i have the PC in a cupboard under the stairs and the children know not to touch anything in there.

If you are in front of the PC a lot make sure you take regular breaks, stretch your legs and perhaps take a few minutes out in the garden to get some fresh air. Don't miss lunch or having a cuppa just because you are working on your own.

If its a beautiful day think about taking your work outside or to somewhere outside with internet access.

Once your allocated work time is complete for that day keep a notepad and pen handy so if you have ideas you can write them down without being tempted to go back into work mode at the expense of your Me or family time.

Being your boss means you can work at times you know you operate best whether its early in the morning or late into the evening so you can make your work time more productive.

Be strict with your online chat times and perhaps change your setting on facebook to show offline and unavailable until you are ready to chat.

People that know me will laugh at this Blog post because all the points above i totally ignore to my cost but i decided to write this as a reminder to myself and tomorrow is another day and i intend to work on my work/home balance with the help of the points in this. Will let you know how i get on in a later blog.

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.” -Vince Lombardi
